Customer account panels

    In my search for the ultimate invoicing system (which ended when I found Simple Invoices) I tried and tested many invoicing softwares and services. Some of them offer this really cool feature, which consists in giving customers access to their own invoices and payment records so that they can see how much they owe the biller.
    In other words when you create a customer account they get an email with a password and can access the invoices online... Of course they will only see the invoices the Biller made for them.
    This would be a great addition to Simple Invoices and it shouldn't be hard to implement. Instead of creating a whole other layers of accounts one I would suggest adding a link to the login page that allows a customer to create a 24-hour temporary password that is sent to the client via email. Then all you need to do is check if the unique URL allows access and if we are within the 24 hour period (or whatever period) show a list of all invoices that match the customer.

    marcnyc personally I think this would be a great addon and great customer service to hand out. Preferably I would like to have a feature embedded, where clients gets login and can track and see their account status and allways get the created invoices etc. through the customer portal.

    Hope it can be added in the future.

    Yeah basically we are talking about the same thing. Shouldn't be too hard to implement. Hopefully Justin will think about it.

    Hi Si Community!

    I'm new to this invoicing system, just installed it today, had 2 errors which got fixed fairly quickly by self-searching the forums for help, managed to pull out a working solution in the end.

    I too think an account panel would be very useful for customers, allowing them to login, see which invoices are paid and unpaid. Also I think providing them the option to re-download the invoices as a pdf would be helpful as I can imagine some customers loosing their copies whether it be accidentally deleting the email etc.

    Yes, absolutely imz!
    I think the way to implement it is simply with a condition where if the log in is the client then the MySQL query will only show the invoices for that client but all the things that make the interface (PDF download etc) will still be available.

    I am glad that this feature is on the list for future versions. I would love to be able to have my customers log in and get extra copies of documents, especially if they have deleted emails I have send with invoice PDFs attached.

    May stop some of the fluff emails that turn up with my from clients asking "Can you please send me a copy of Tax Invoice #XXXX as I have lost it?"

    Hope to see this in a version soon.

    When considering the feature of a customer account panel, it would be nice if there would be a function that the customer can fill in his own name, adress etc.
