So, I've retried and re-downloaded the installation numerous times and I keep getting a blank page.
The tmp directory permissions are 777, the config.ini has the correct info,
and if I insert " echo "Print this"; " into index.php, the browser does indeed display Print this.
I'm using an up to date Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop LAMP server installation, Webmin to administrate.
PHP Version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.1, Apache Version Apache/2.2.16 (Ubuntu)
I'm at a loss. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
YOU SIR ARE THE FREK'N MAN/WOMAN! This works for Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS in a VM. Forget the complex passwords. I dont need NO STICKING SECURITY! :)
Glad to know this helped someone.
Also, a note on password strength: http://xkcd.com/936/
Just for fun =)
Cheers
I can't tell you how many failed installs I've had of SI because of this. This sounds like a serious bug that needs to be addressed. I ALWAYS use non-alphanumeric characters in my admin passwords. The author should at least note this in the installation procedure, if nothing else. Many thanks Feargan for discovering this annoying little anomaly!
