what kind of users are into simple invoices?
  • January 1970 Edit

Hello everyone. I've been using Simple Invoices for about 6 months and am generally quite happy with it.

I'm a parttime freelance translator myself and was wondering what kind of users are into simple invoices?
I would assume many are freelance webdevelopers, but if we knew more about what kind of users are using it we could better target those groups for marketing/promotion. I plan to 'spread the word' in the freelance translator community myself, but how about a little poll on the front page?

I am (by trade) a .NET and C++ programmer. I like simple invoices for my business it fits the need perfectly. Since that time I have been trying to help out and contribute to make the product better (and learn a little about PHP). I am not sure if I am the common "User Type" of Simple Invoices, but I figured I would answer your post.

I am an office manager at a law firm. Our current solution is tied into a local installation of an accounting application with the data file on a server.
While this is fairly secure, it would be useful to be able to access and generally operate remotely. As I am preparing to transition to other options, I am playing with SimpleInvoices, because it is an excellent way to handle it. I expect to be leaving the heavier accounting to Phreebooks.

I own/run a small software firm in the UK.
We use SimpleInvoices on a daily basis and it's great!
It gives us everything that we need.

I own/run a small software development company. We develop (webbased) applications for health care and use si for billing. Also we create cms solutions based upon E107. It's not my main job, but one to keep my knowledge about programming actual. My main job is projectmanager at the University of Groningen where I work with a team of developers. As they know that I 'know the job' makes managing more easy ;-)

Ima Part-time Web Designer, but I'm mostly using SimpleInvoices for reseller hosting. PHPCoin was just too ridiculously complicated for my needs.

I am a self-employed business desktop IT support, small network infrastructure installer, light bulb/fluorescent tube changer, coat racks screwed to the wall installer etc, well you get the idea. Simple Invoices is installed on my own Gentoo Linux server and is set up so that when I am at a customer's premises I can log in and knock them up an invoice there and then, heavenly....

This forum is great as I am still finding features and tweaks to make the most of the software, keep up the good work.

I own and operate a consulting firm specializing in helping people find, understand, and correct problems with buildings. We've just finished implementing our installation of SI and appreciate its simplicity and ease of use.

We had been looking for a self-hosted accounting solution that was not bloated with extras no one needed, or had time to learn how to use. To have access from anywhere we have internet and to own our data were two other important considerations.

The forum has been a huge help. Thanks to everyone past and present for contributing!

I own Oregon City Computers which is a local community oriented repair service outside of Portland, OR. Like a lot of others here I also have a 9-5 type of job working as a tech support agent while I slowly build my business.

I am so glad and grateful to have found this software. I had very few requirements in what I needed and this nailed it to a T. I wish I knew programming so that I could help contribute. I am gonna press the donate button on the home page instead. Keep up the good work!!

Im a freelance designer/web manager. I design some and mostly set up websites for people.

I originally looked at BambooInvoice, but they have slow development (1 guy) and lack features. I also looked at MyClientBase, but they lack reoccurring invoices, client login, paypal, and a few more features.

I'm with you guys nearly permanently because of high activity, active contributers and a whole lotta features.

  • justinjustin October 2010

    thanks stephen

note: client login is still a work in progress - but it's almost ready

My wife and I run a company in photography. Our core is wedding photography, we have a pretty busy portrait-studio and we supply a small but loyal group of professional customers. We have always done our invoicing from Word, but a new era has come since I discovered SimpleInvoices.

As I look to it now, SI will not only produce "simple" (what's simple about these excellent invoices?) invoices and give me an actual overview of unpaid invoices, but I hope I can use it to do some forecasting as well. Looking forward to reports with date-ranges!

We are in an active network of freelancers and I look forward to introduce SI to all my colleagues: SI ROCKS!

    thanks corwin!!

please tell as many people as possible - word of mouth is definitely the best marketing for Simple Invoices

    Hi -
I just started using Simple Invoices for a little business my wife is starting (freelance copyediting) and from what I've seen so far - it looks fantastic. We downloaded the little portable Windows self-contained version. I might load it up on a USB stick and see if it runs on other computers (from what I've seen, it looks like it should). That is just...wow! (I know I could stick the regular version into something like XAMPP, but to have it all right there is so...simple!)

Anyway, I've got my own business (web site with advertisers) and I've been using another PHP/MySQL invoicing software for a few years. Development has died on that project, and there are lots of bugs. I think Simple Invoices might offer 99% of the features I need, and I might be able to live without the other 1%, so I might end up switching myself. Either way, this is a sweet little app - thanks for it!!!
