Hi, long time no see, mostly because we still don't have php 5.2.x. But in a few days we plan to start a new bleeding edge server so it's time to give something back. It seems that the romanian translation is a disaster in the new Beta3; not anymore, not if we can help it.
So I figured, what the hack? I'll upgrade the stable on the new server to the beta to give you feedback and to translate everything, get it into the production, maybe customizing the template... I mean what it can happen? Go back a few times to OO calc like I did ages ago before Simple Invoices :) ? I really don't have so many invoices at this time...
Keep in touch
hey fakemoth
an updated romanian translation would be great - grab the ro lang file from beta 3 or from our svn and post here or email
any help is great

Hey again, is there a roadmap somewhere? How long it wil take till a RC1, as a rough approximation, can you predict if the structure of the language files will be changed dramatically? I already started an aggressive campain for supporting various pieces of Open Source software, yours too. The first big step is maybe to get SI in the automated installers of a few panels. Virtualmin is your best shot ;) http://www.virtualmin.com/forums/blue-skies/simple-invoices-script-installer.html#22939
hey fakemoth,
re roadmap
- http://code.google.com/p/simpleinvoices/source/browse/trunk/dev/TODO.txt
- http://simpleinvoices.org/roadmap
re lang files
- there may be changes in the future to .po format - but for the foreseeable future it'll stay as is
re RC1
- last last stable release is the one in the download link on the home page
- re - the current beta series for the release of 2009.1 - there will be a few more beta releases than a RC - and if all good and full release after RC has no major issues
- unfortunately no timeline as real world dramas have been slowing the progress down lately

re virtualmin
- that sounds great! - any help on making that happen would be greatly appreciated

Getting slightly offtopic but better than starting a new thread: It seems we have a chance with Virtualmin and a few VM dedicated users had backed up the proposal. Could you maybe get in touch with Joe and Jamie to make this happen? You will get SI as an easy-1click-to-install-option to every client hosted with a Virtualmin panel! And if you add recurring invoices in the new vs. you will get a bunch of smaller hosters into Simple Invoic(es)ing ;)
hey fakemoth
i've posted on the virtualmin forum - just awaiting reply from jamie

thanks fakemoth
let us know when 3.68 is out and if it includes Simple Invoices
cheers

Hi, Virtualmin 3.68 is already running on our server and I can confirm that Simple Invoices is included in the script installers. We already offer your software to our clients > http://www.i-ware.ro in the "Aplicatii gratuite" (Free software) area :)
BRB.
Awesome
is it easy to install and config Simple Invoices via the installer script?
post screenshots etc.. if possible
Cheers
Justin
It's easy as... hell :) You can view some screenshots here:
-you select simple invoices form the available applications list and you press install; this is what you'll get http://www.i-ware.ro/images/stuff/clipboard01.jpg with a few options
-then when you press install now, it will be automatically downloaded and installed in the directory with the database we specified before http://www.i-ware.ro/images/stuff/clipboard02.jpg
awesome!
can you get them to update the description
cheers
justin
perfect!!
BTW, the uninstall process it's as straight forward as the installation: you select the installed script, press the nice button and it's done. And the description is updated now: "Simple Invoices is a simple, community developed, free/open source, web-based invoicing system"
great
how easy is virtualmin to setup and install? - might be an easier way for some people to get Simple Invoices working

It's quite simple, but it requires a certain level of knowledge in the server area and it is used in web hosting environments... It would be a bad idea to recommend that, mostly because people will have to start and configure a whole server, meaning at least apache+php, postfix, dovecot, proftpd, mySQL and maybe bind. I think best is to have the hosters using Virtualmin Pro to offer SI, than to start the other way around.
But if you don't have a server and you are planning one - it's the best solution out there for doing the job; Virtualmin has a completely free of charge version (called Virtualmin GPL), even if both of them are Open Source i think, working hand-in-hand with Webmin and Usermin, but that one doesn't have the script installers... This means manual override for SI
thanks for the update!
